Viator Restaurant and Wine Bar

Located on Kosaras Hill in Pannonhalma, the VIATOR Abbey Restaurant and Wine Bar opened in the new visitor building of Pannonhalma Abbey on 28 May 2010. VIATOR is the gastronomic symbol of the Pannonhalma Benedictine monastic community: it is traditional and modern at the same time, a restaurant worthy of the trust of its guests. Recognised by the industry, the building received the Construction Industry Award for Excellence in 2011. Located 11 km from the M1 motorway, VIATOR is ideal for both tourists and business people looking for a relaxed lunch or dinner during the daily rush. Pannonhalma has become an unmissable pilgrimage destination not only for the believer, but also for fans of the modern architecture. Quality has always been a core value for the Benedictine, and so has been the attraction towards simplicity. The buildings owned by the Benedictine in Pannonhalma have a uniform tone and a clear design. The building has a conference room equipped with modern technology, offering an ideal venue for business meetings, professional trainings, team building programmes or scientific conferences.

Megrendelő véleménye

“The Abbey started considerable developments in the past decade, which are aimed at not only preserving the venue as an important tourist attraction, but making it more suitable for tourists coming to Pannonhalma to enjoy better services and to get to know the attractions of the Archabbey. Merkbau Építőipari Kft won the right to start the construction after the demolition of the restaurant on Kosaras Hill and create a facility that provides tourism infrastructure and meets current demands, and at the same time respects the Rule of Saint Benedict which also provides for the respect of guests and the service of fellow human beings: “welcome everyone as Christ himself”. It was a requirement of the investor that everyone involved in the construction would be suitable for performing this outstanding task. Problems that occurred during the performance of the contract were resolved professionally, with attention to the smallest details, the attitude of the construction company met the highest expectations. With both their technical expertise and their human approach, they worked for many months to ensure the successful completion of the project on a World Heritage site, ensuring uninterrupted tourist traffic. The commitment, helpfulness, care and knowledge of the “team” members resulted in a facility that perfectly meets both the requirements of the investor and expectations of the visitors.” dr Asztrik Várszegi, bishop, arch-abbot of Pannonhalma.
