The Sauska winery complex has been in operation for nearly a decade on an estate located in the Villány wine region, producing 1700-2500 hectolitres of wine a year, aged in barrels and steel tanks, then bottled. The goal of the expansion was to increase the grape processing area while maintaining the capacity of the existing building, to ensure the cooling of the grapes and provide improved welfare facilities for the workers. The task was resolved by building a new multi-functional wing with an indoor/outdoor processing area, a heated and cooled closed storage area and the necessary two-storey welfare facilities. Grapes are chilled to +5 °C in the closed storage space, and this room is heated to +25 °C in November when grape juice starts fermenting. Cooling and heating are performed by means of an industrial cooler and heater. With the applied architectural solutions and materials, the building complex blends perfectly into the vineyard landscape, the extension and the existing building forming an unbreakable harmonious whole.
